TipWorking Environment

Notebooks run inside your Databricks workspace. Link your fork as a Git folder in Home (same idea as Snowflake Git workspace). Codespaces is for dbt and optional terminal labs only.

Access

  1. Open the workspace invite link from your facilitator
  2. Log in and open Catalog → confirm mhpdeworkshop_databricks_2026

GitHub credentials

Create a Git credential before your first Git folder (Databricks Git integration):

  1. Databricks → username → Settings → Linked accounts → Git integration → Add credential
  2. GitHub → Settings → Developer settings → Personal access tokens → Tokens (classic) → scope repo
  3. In Databricks: provider GitHub, your Git email, paste token → Save

Notebooks

Notebooks live in your fork (databricks/notebooks/) — pick how they appear in the workspace:

Per Git folder docs:

  1. Home → ⋮ → Create → Git folder (or Repos → Go to home folder shortcut)

  2. Fill in:

    Git provider GitHub
    Git folder name MHP-DE-Workshop-2026
    Sparse checkout Enable — enter each cone pattern on its own line:

    databricks
    streaming/databricks
    ml/databricks

  3. Create — then Exercise: Databricks § Before you start for cluster and 00_setup.py

Pull updates: Git folder → Git → Pull

If Git integration is blocked:

  1. Upload from your fork: _workshop_bootstrap.py, 00_setup.py through 04_ai_features.py
  2. Workspace → your home folder → ⋮ → Import → File

Facilitator-only fallback — CAN RUN on their MHP-DE-Workshop-2026 folder. Prefer Option A when Git works.

Emergency: Lab source files if GitHub is unavailable.
